We started with R600k, trading position sizes of $2,000 to $2,500 USD (around R30k) per trade. Nothing fancy, just a couple of offshore shares in the US, UK & EU. It is shares only (no CFD’s), as we intend to let them run as far as possible, not wanting to close anytime soon. That being said, stop losses are loaded upfront for each and every trade and are strictly adhered to. We analyze each trade individually, using mainly technicals & charting to spot the obvious levels to exit at. The stop loss levels are typically around 7 to 10% per trade.
The account is about ¾ invested, meaning ¼ of the total value is still in cash. There are 15 open positions at present and only 1 of them is in the red: the gold ETF. The top 4 shares are Nova, Fevertree, Coherent and Caterpillar. We’ll run through all the positions below. Correct at the time of writing.
